Run the free audit — browser-only, nothing uploaded
Exporting your audience is the first step to finding out which contacts you're paying for. Mailchimp lets you export an entire audience, a segment, a tag, or a group, and exports can include subscribed, non-subscribed, unsubscribed, and cleaned contacts (View or Export Your Contacts).
Source steps: View or Export Your Contacts — View or export an audience. Repeat for each audience: the same email in two audiences is a separate contact in each.
Subscribed, unsubscribed, and non-subscribed contacts count toward your contact total; archived, cleaned, and deleted contacts don't (About Mailchimp Pricing Plans). So the unsubscribed and non-subscribed CSVs in your export are where the easy savings usually sit.
Export each audience, then run AudienceTrim's free audit in your browser. It counts unsubscribed, non-subscribed and cross-audience duplicates (nothing is uploaded).
Who can export a Mailchimp audience? Only Owners and Admins can export audiences, according to Mailchimp's help center.
Does a Mailchimp audience export include archived contacts? No. Archived contacts are exported separately from active contacts, from the View archived contacts page.
Does a Mailchimp contact export include opens and clicks? No. Contact exports don't include email engagement metrics like opens and clicks. Export an email report for that data.
How long can I download a past Mailchimp export? Contact exports and their CSVs are available in your account for 30 days, under More options then Export history.
